What is Mental Health First Aid Training?

Over 4 half days, or 2 full days, our in-house team of instructors will train individuals from your organisation to become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®). Individuals that can act as a point of contact for employees who are experiencing poor mental health or emotional distress.

The training will support learners to:

  • Gain the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of a colleague experiencing poor mental health
  • Be confident starting a conversation and signpost to appropriate support
  • Understand the boundaries of the role

Workshops can be held face-to-face or online via Microsoft Teams with up to a maximum of 16 learners.

How will our MHFAiders® be supported after the training?

Alongside the best evidence-based Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, MHFAiders® are also provided with three-year access to ongoing learning and support through the MHFAider Support App®. The app gives learners 24/7 digital support, access to exclusive resources, ongoing learning opportunities, and the benefit of joining England's largest community of trained MHFAiders®.

We are determined to ensure your MHFAiders® are supported beyond the initial training and so learners will also be offered free quarterly, online peer support meetings with a trained MHFA Instructor for 1 year after their training, to ensure that they are continuously supported in their role as an MHFAider®.

Poor mental health costs UK employers up to £56 billion each year. But for every £1 spent by employers on mental health interventions, they get back £5.30 in reduced absence, presenteeism, and staff turnover.

Why do some services cost more if I am a larger organisation?

Healthy Workplaces aims to support the health and wellbeing of the working age population across Leicestershire & Rutland, acknowledging the differing sizes, structures and needs of the varying workplaces and their employees. Research suggests that SMEs (small-medium enterprises) engage less in the health and wellbeing of employees due to limited financial resources to invest in workplace health programmes.
